The one we had in the yard when I was a kid was called a red hot poker, though the torch lily name probably suits this color version better.
That plant was always a favorite of mine in the yard. Each and every one I’ve planted since has fallen victim to my brown thumb. This one is in Fred Fletcher Park here in Raleigh.
