A November petition asked Governor Pat McCrory to call the NC Legislature back into session to prevent denial Medicaid to 500,000 and unemployment benefits to 170,000 North Carolinians. Forward Together called for another of the state’s Moral Monday gatherings on December 23 to either thank McCrory or further publicize their requests.

There was no legislative session, only the usual remarks about the the people they tried to paint as radicals and social misfits. Courts overturned the Governor’s denial of a permit to rally on the Capitol Square.

Despite rain, a sizable crowd converged beside the legislative building and marched over to the Capitol. There they met and talked peaceably for an hour or so before dispersing and going home.
