What do you get if you shove a drummer, a bass player, and six electric guitarists into a basement in the North Carolina foothills? Spiralstock! It’s always different, and the most recent was the 36th time they’ve done it.
Years ago, Spiral and Granny were in a band together -- Frog Level. They played together for years. Some years back, Granny decided to ride his Triumph motorcycle down from Nashville to visit. He was bringing his bass, and he and Spiral decided to call some local musician friends to come hang out and just play for fun. And they saw that it WAS fun.
Last Saturday evening, they set up their amplifiers in a circle, all facing inward. Round the circle they go, taking turns picking a song for all to play. And play they do. And they laugh. And they tell stories. And they stay up later than old men should.
Miss Dee cooks breakfast in the morning, and everyone takes off for the trip home a little younger than before.
