Combine pop fineness and a jamband mentality and you get an enjoyable live show. A great example is the Dave Matthews Band. Their performances are popular fare with tape traders. Matthews encourages fans to record and trade their live shows, so long as no one does so for a profit. Matthews got the idea when he figured out that one of the sources of his growing fame was college students trading tapes of his performances.
