I had not heard of <a href="http://www.thesamples.com/">The Samples</a> until I saw them at the HORDE Festival in 1993. The band got together about six years before this performance and took their name from their early subsistence on free samples from a local grocery store.
I’m glad they survived as they make very fine music. By the way, that is not a strange hairdo that you see on guitarist Sean Kelly, he’s got a fan blowing up at him from the floor. It was August in Raleigh after all.
They’re still playing and have recently done some kids’ records.
