Today
Last night, Emily, my eldest, took me to a basketball celebration at the University of North Carolina. More than 100 players came back to play and salute the 100 years of the game at the university.
Many icons of the program retold their tales and several even put themselves back on the floor. They recounted the ’57 championship that featured two triple overtime victories in the Final Four. Walter Davis talked about the beating Dook after being behind by 8 points with 17 second left in the game (That’s why Carolina fans have trouble walking away from the TV when their beloved Heels are losing.).
I’m a five-decade fan now. It’s a rough year, but I don’t see me changing now.
