my today
A few years ago, the state agriculture department started holding an off-season state fair -- the Got to Be NC Festival. It’s a bit like the actual State Fair held in October each year, just scaled back. Starting last year, Masons in North Carolina took over the pig cooking contest (pork is a leading agricultural product produced here).
I was there to cover it for The North Carolina Mason today. What a great day! Twenty-nine teams from North Carolina’s two grand lodges participated this year. The eating was awesome. The contestants had as much fun as the several thousand who bought tickets and helped judge the east.
The Pig Jig is well on the way to becoming one of the biggest Masonic events in the country. Have a look around the Fairgrounds for yourself by clicking here.
