Hope everyone has a great Independence Day!
During the summer Kitty and Beth head to Tranters Creek, just off the Pamlico River in Little Washington. Kitty was born there, and we still own a home there. Emily is in Europe unwinding from school. I run back and forth to work, often weekending in the east before returning to the work force in Raleigh.
On this holiday weekend, there will be lots of human traffic on the waterfront in Washington. Once the industrial center of the little port town, the area between Main Street and the waterfront were filled and paved in the early 1970s. It was dubbed Stewart Parkway after then Mayor Tom Stewart. Today it is a lively spot, with docked pleasure boats, pedestrians walking the breezy boardwalk, a weekend farmers market, and socializing citizens sitting in the many benches facing the passing boat traffic. Even Main Street is livening up.
All but one of this weeks PAW photos are from Washington on the Pamlico waterfront.
