The Blazers were a Chapel Hill band who loved to rock. The original configuration had Sherman Tate fronting the quartet with bassist Joey Earth, drummer Ronnie Taylor, and guitarist Rodney Underwood. It was easy to find them performing in bars around town in the 1970s.
Shakin’ Sherman still turns up occasionally playing with pick-up bands in Raleigh.
Chapel Hill Memories streams some of their music and has an article on the boys.
Here’s an album of early promo photos and a later performance set from Little Washington where they were performing for the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation’s annual oyster roast.
