But friends and family along the Atlantic Coast share North Carolina’s passion for shagging. It’s that little shuffle step dance that beach bunnies and their pursuers have used as a mating ritual for decades.

Among the very best bands sowing that sound over the sweaty beach bodies has always been The Embers. This is a performance of theirs caught in Little Washington, on the waterfront, July 25, 1987.
