WASHINGTON — During the warm months (April to October), Washington, NC closes off Main Street and has bands performing, old cars on view, and the town’s folk chatting on the center lines of public streets -- a perfectly wonderful small town celebration.
Many of the shops downtown stay open late for the events. The October fun was punctuated by Smoke on the Water. Teams step in to cook and compare their barbecue and their chili to see who best lays the smoke on the water. That would be the often October foggy Pamlico River which pokes by the city’s business district.
Let’s hear it for The Dirty Harrys, seen above.
