CHAPEL HILL -- Thanks to my youngest daughter’s friend who was a candidate for Homecoming King, Kitty and I got to go to Homecoming at University of North Carolina last weekend. It’s my alma mater and that of my oldest daughter. The youngest is a sophomore there. It feels like home to us all.
The Tar Heels have had a strange season; firing the head coach just before the season started and having some unwanted discussions with the NCAA. We greatly needed a victory and seemed at best pretty evenly matched with the Demon Deacons from Wake Forest. We came away with a 49-24 win.
Beth is a director with Fever, a pep group for university sports. We got to see her at work and met a lot of her friends from the group. It was real satisfying and lots of fun. Got to see the Well Walk for the first time. The team walks across campus from the Old Well (the University symbol) to the Kenan Stadium before the game. Their route is lined with students and fans greeting them and urging them on.
Beth’s friend Clint Hannah was crowned Homecoming king. Atta boy!
