From acoustic blues trio to larger party band and back to blues/jazz band, the J. Geils Band has held a spot in the public eye since the mid-1960s. Songs like “First I Look at the Purse,” “Centerfold,” “Freeze Frame,” “Love Stinks” and “Whammer Jammer” were among the tunes that cemented the band’s position in many a party over the years. In later years, several members of the band have appeared together off and on. Founding trio members John Geils on guitar and Richard “Magic Dick” Salwitz on harp have kept it going, but with more blues and jazz influences.
This gallery is from Jay and Dick’s 1995 performance in Raleigh, NC.
