Pete Droge was the opening act for Tom Petty when they performed in Raleigh September 27, 1995. The Washington State act has a folk rock sound. While you may not immediately recognize his name, you will find his music in Toyota ads and several movies. He performed in “Almost Famous.”
The band this night was Pete Droge and the Sinners which included Peter Stroud on guitar and Elaine Summers singing and playing guitar. Stroud was raised in Greensboro and attended UNC-G for two years before moving to Atlanta to pursue his career. Most recently he has performed on the bands of Sherly Crow and Sarah McLauchlan. Droge and Summers were married in 2008 and currently perform together.
