It took us a week to get home to Washington to check on things after Irene’s visit. For the most part, it caused more big inconveniences than major devastation. We were very lucky. This gallery is shot a full week after Hurricane Irene.
Around home the sticks and stench are the main problems. We got much of the detritus removed from the yard this weekend. Sticks are burned. One major tree overhangs from the swamp, but will likely get to follow its own course as it threatens nothing.
The river and creeks are nasty with civilizations runoffs shoved down their throats by nature’s rinse cycle. There’s much more work to be done, but our part can wait for next visit.
