For the benefit of the Leica and camera fans out there who take a peek at my weekly submissions, the first eight photos in PAW 51 are lens testing. Kitty got me a lens for Christmas and was sweet enough to not withhold it until Christmas morning. The 1953 collapsible 50mm Elmar seems to be plenty capable on a well lit day, but was not fast enough to cope with the rest of the week’s duties which involved available darkness.

The rest of the pics come from an assignment at which nine lodge installed their officers--a much larger number than is usual--and on my slow trip to Rocky Mount to meet Emily’s train. Let the holiday begin!
