We were excited to hear the Bill Lyerly was back in the country and playing at the Sunnyside Oyster Bar in Williamston, NC. Lyerly has been plying his art in Europe for the last few years where he shares his vision of American roots music. He’s back in the USA for a few months. That’s Bill on lead guitar. On bass is Jason D. Smith, and Dexter Horton is playing drums. Lyerly dedicated the performance to his friend Billy Baines, a Gates County native who died not too long ago of cancer. His two daughters are pictured posing together in this set.
The Sunnyside has been in the same spot since 1935. They cook out back and bring the seafood inside to the bar (cedar shavings on the floor). They like to brag, “Upgrades were made only to meet codes.”
